A couple months ago, my wonderful, amazing friend invited me to attend the Justin Timberlake concert. I have been a fan of Justin since his ‘NSYNC days and was counting down the years until he released new material. Last year, he released two albums The 20/20 Experience Part 1 and The 20/20 Experience Part 2. I was not a fan of Part 1, but Part 2 feeds my musical soul. I’ve been listening to that album non-stop in my car since the concert which was at the end of November. My two favorite tracks off the album are “True Blood” and “Murder.” I’m also a huge fan of “Only When I Walk Away” so those three are the songs I will be sharing with you this Music Monday. If you have never seen JT live, I highly recommend you go. He is a fantastic performer and it was one of the best concerts I have been to in a very long time.
1) True Blood
2) Murder featuring Jay-Z
Here is also a version that includes a cover of Bel Biv Devoe’s Poison which I wrote about in a previous Music Monday. So awesome!
3) Only When I Walk Away
And just because ‘NSYNC was pretty awesome back in the day (although Backstreet Boys are the way to this girl’s heart), here is a classic from the boy band.
4) Bye Bye Bye
My friends and I were watching the Golden Globes last night and when it came time for the Best Song award, I was reminded of how awesome of a song “Let It Go” from the Frozen soundtrack is. I was also reminded how much fun it is to sing it waaaayyyy off-key with your friends. 😉 I didn’t love Frozen as much as I thought I would, but this song has a wonderful way of sticking in your head. I know Demi Lovato sings a version of it, but I am sharing the Idina Menzel version with you because it’s Idina-Freaking-Menzel and she is awesome. I also find the phrase, “Let It Go,” is indeed relevant in my life at this point as I need to let a lot of things go.
Now if you excuse me I am going to frolick around my apartment and scream/sing “Let It Go.” Be glad you have the video below to listen to. Happy Listening!
I’M BACK!!!!!!!!!! December totally kicked my butt physically. I got sick right after Thanksgiving and then I was better for a week, but on my way back home to visit the parents for Christmas I got sick AGAIN! I have been sick for over a month which has NEVER happened to me. I’m still sick, but I’m not as sick as I was and with the new year, it’s time to get back into the swing of things.
For the first Music Monday of the year, I figured I’d share one of my favorite songs from The Chairman of the Board aka Ol’ Blue Eyes aka Frank Sinatra which I think seems really fitting for the new year: “The Best is Yet to Come.” 2013 was an extremely frustrating (read: sucky), emotional year for me and I’m hoping 2014 will be better. “The Best is Yet to Come” is going to be one of my mantra’s this year so I think this song is the perfect way to start the year. 🙂
